About Us
About Us
For most of us...
The idea for becoming parents is an exciting time.  We hope for a healthy child
with ten fingers and toes and  a great personality.  Our gaol as parents is to
provide for our children, guide them to make good decisions and create
memories that last a lifetime, and fulfill their wishes as best as we can.
Possum Snout Arena...
Was built in 1990 to host family fun horse shows.   That is until we met Rachel
Smith from Ranburn, ,AL.

Rachel was born with Spina Bifida and was confined to a wheelchair.  She
became our inspiration.  All Rachel wanted to do was ride a horse just like
everyone else.  She was our first calling to provide the same opportunity to
others.  Although Rachel is no longer with us, she left us with our mission to
make others dreams come true.  She continues to be our inspiration as do the
others we work with.
Jeff Fishman and his family participated in the fun shows, he is also a
behavioral therapist for Tanner Behavioral Health Program.  We began a
conversation about kids and horses and the next thing I know we are planning
our first group of kids.  It never ceases to amaze when I watch the reactions on a
child's face when they begin relating to a horse.

2008
Tanner Behavior Health concluded the Summer Equine Program on July 3rd.
We had the largest number of volunteers this year and we are truly grateful for
the endless time and energy.  The Staff of Tanner Behavioral Health Youth and
Adolescent Programs are the "BEST".  Their number one concern is for the
participants to have  an experiential experience and an all out great time!

The Learning Tree arrives at Possum Snout Arena weekly for their opportunity to
make wishes come true.

The residents of the Learning Tree of Jacksonville and Piedmont Alabama have
participated in a summer of horses and friendship on Friday mornings.  These
young riders experience the motion of the horse, the great outdoors and the
freedom from their handicap for the brief time spent at Possum Snout Arena.

Our goal is to complete the current addition of a new restroom building and concession
stand to support the needs of all of our handicapped riders.  This should be completed by
the fall of 2008.  We will work with the local community and seek state wide and out of state
grants along with the generous donations from our community to break ground and begin
the building process of the COVERED ARENA. The Arena will be built on a 15 acre plot
leased to Rachel's Wish Foundation by the Floyd family
This arena will make year round assistance available for every group we currently offer
services and encourage new participation from Northwest Georgia and Alabama at no cost
to the participants.

We are seeking grants and looking for possible donor prospects.
We offer our services
at no cost.  The equine
program is sponsored
by our many
volunteers, grants and
benefactors through tax
deductible donations.
We are beginning the 2nd 6-week program for Kids Peace on Wednesday July, 16
2008 from 3:00-6:30 p.m.  We still need volunteers.  If you are not afraid to get little
dirty and love the out doors come on out we will teach you the rest.  This will be
decision you will not regret.
Kids Peace...
We have been in operation for 8 years this year and we are making a
difference one life at a time.  We are replacing traumatic memories with
good memories we are allowing introverted individuals to express them
selves we are helping individuals with abusive behavior use tools they
were not aware they had to deal with frustrations in new non-violent ways,
we have helped grieving individuals to deal with loss and replaced it with
Hope.  We see their hope when they have no idea it exists for them,
when all else calls them hopeless.
